BRADENTON, FL (August 28, 2025)—Amanda Schlachter, an associate professor of theatre in the performing arts department at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Manatee-Sarasota, has been named the 2025 President’s Faculty Excellence Award winner. The Office of the President presents this prestigious annual award in honor of a full-time faculty member who demonstrates overall excellence in teaching and advising, institutional service and professional development/scholarly activities.

Award nominees must show distinction in innovative teaching, exemplary service, and contributions that bring regional, state and/or national recognition of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Schlachter exemplifies these values through her ongoing professional growth, involvement in national workshops and Broadway, and a deep commitment to student mentorship and the performing arts community. She has directed several acclaimed ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Theatre productions, including community collaborations and a world premiere with The Sarasota Players.

Appreciative of her award, recognition and role at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Schlachter shared, “I am so grateful to work at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø with our tremendous students, administration, faculty and staff. It is a blessing to teach a wide range of performance and theatre classes in addition to producing beautiful plays. I adore our students, and watching them learn, grow and evolve is truly an honor.” 

Schlachter started her career at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø as an adjunct theatre instructor in 2015. She is known for her joyful and collaborative spirit, her passion for student success and her dedication to the craft of teaching. She leads her courses with creativity and academic rigor, hosts masterclasses with students and industry professionals, and mentors and inspires students to pursue excellence on stage and in life.

Schlachter recently completed the teaching certification. She received an Excellence in Teaching Award from the in Fall 2023.
