Staff Spotlight: Meet Brent, Setting Up Performing Arts Students for ϳԹ Stage and Future Success

Brent Denison, manager, Performing Arts Center, ϳԹ

Brent Denison was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. He graduated from Southeast High School and then Manatee Community College (now ϳԹ) with an Associate in Arts degree in Theatre Arts. He worked for over two decades in technical crews, stage management and acting in over 60 national and local theatrical productions.

Serving Proudly at ϳԹ

As a proud ϳԹ alumnus, Denison joined ϳԹ as the manager of the Performing Arts Center in October 2021. His role includes oversight and overall management of the ϳԹ Neel Performing Arts Center and operational management of the Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall and Howard Studio Theatre.

Denison is honored to share his career experiences and support students’ educational journeys at ϳԹ. He values the college’s feeling of family and pride. He admires how faculty and staff collaborate and share their expertise to help students thrive in the community and on their path to success. 

, a Tony Award-winning performing artist, choreographer and musical director, is a source of inspiration for Denison. Tune once said, “I like a show to unfold and keep presenting itself, surprising you.” Denison links Tune’s philosophy to the surprising talent and imaginative work of the ϳԹ performing arts centers.  

Honoring Excellence at ϳԹ

Denison holds a Master of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in stage management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

He previously worked with many renowned performing artists in Nevada and other world-class venues, including   in Nevada Conservatory Theatre’s “Annie” production, in her “A New Day” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and others at Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in Los Angeles, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater and Capitol Theatre in Clearwater.

Life Outside of ϳԹ

In his free time, Denison enjoys attending live concerts, theatre productions and Greater Tampa Bay-area sporting events. He also loves traveling, especially to the Caribbean islands, which he finds breathtaking.
